Beautiful People's new Neighbourhood Team initiative was launched at a Big Sister-Youth Worker meeting on 16 September 2006. Each of our four Neighbourhood Teams has a mix of Big Sisters and Youth Workers, and is tasked with working with girls in designated areas. The Neighbourhood Teams represent a constructive and focussed way for each and every Big Sister to get to know the girls under their charge better and to act as positive influences in their lives. Besides participating in regular Beautiful People events, including Saturday workshops and bi-annual camp, each Neighbourhood Team will be able to map out their own activities, so that the girls and Big Sisters can get to know each other better. If you would like to : join a Neighbourhood Team, start a team in another area, contact any of the co-leaders, please email to

East Coast (Northlight)
( 3 Articles )
Co Leaders : Shindy Big Sisters visit the Northlight school weekly on Friday afternoons to run the Girls Club together with a teacher from Northlight School. There were about 10 girls in the Girls Club, to reach out to a wider group of girls, we organised activities during our weekly visits ranging from personal grooming, arts and craft, dancing and cookery classes. The activities provided us an opportunity to get to know the girls in the school better. It was difficult in the begining as the girls preferred to hang out at void decks or be with friends, but our constant effort to introduce new activities to suit their interest garnered greater response. Towards the later part of the year, the number of girls enrolled in the Club swelled from 10 to 18.
