Meet the silent star of Beautiful People – our dedicated Volunteer Management Executive, Hasyimah! She is part of our invaluable Office Team, working tirelessly behind the scenes to support our volunteer movement. Industrious and steadfast, the 34-year-old has been with Beautiful People for three years.
The Anchor that Grounds Beautiful People

As a Volunteer Management Executive, Hasyimah is the anchor that volunteers and mentors look to. She meticulously oversees the volunteer lifecycle from recruitment and training, to coordination and engagement. Her days run later than a typical 9-5, as volunteers tend to be more active in the afternoons, and evening meetings are common. Discussions on event planning, coordination, and briefings are usually scheduled according to the volunteers’ free time after work. During these sessions, Hasyimah provides guidance and support to ensure everything runs smoothly. She is also actively involved in Beautiful People’s current mentoring initiatives, providing support to mentors and volunteers as needed.
Being at the heart of Beautiful People’s communication is a big responsibility, and Hasyimah certainly agrees.
“It’s tricky having to manage being available around the clock,” she shares. “Especially as an introvert, constant communication with so many different people can be overwhelming. But I’ve learnt to set clear boundaries and prioritise messages based on urgency; this helps me manage my energy levels.”
Staying Motivated In The Journey Of Growth
Hasyimah’s motivation to persist despite the challenges is simple — the people. Over the years with Beautiful People, she witnessed mentees grow and volunteers show extraordinary dedication, and that continues to inspire her to keep going.

“They’re the main reason I’m here. They always go above and beyond, and I’ve learnt so much from them, ” Hasyimah says. “Watching the results of the seeds we plant really warms my heart, and the mentees’ progress makes my work all the more meaningful. ”
As with any journey, there is always room for growth, and Hasyimah takes the same approach. She strives to grow towards being less shy and more open in order to foster stronger connections with those around her. The volunteers, mentors and mentees have always been a big part of her journey.
Reflections On The Past And The Road To Come
Looking back on her journey with Beautiful People, what stands out most for Hasyimah are the relationships she has built. Programme outings and retreats have given her the chance to connect deeply with the community and share meaningful moments — from spending time with families in our Families for Families initiative to forming friendships that extend beyond the programme.
Looking forward, Hasyimah has great hopes for the future of Beautiful People. To her, Beautiful People is a pioneer in volunteer-led movements. She believes that one day, we will be recognised as a model for volunteer management, demonstrating potential of volunteer leadership. “It is possible,” Hasyimah declares. “Just because we’re volunteers doesn’t mean things get done halfway. Being committed and the pursuit of excellence are key, even if the process takes a little bit longer. “
Hasyimah also hopes that the community understands that life has seasons, and it’s okay to step back and pass the baton when needed. “That’s the beauty of it. Even if you need to step back and take a break, Beautiful People’s door is always open for you to come back.
